Once again the country changes as we head into hilly woodland. Today we pass through several small hamlets that have lots of old crumbling buildings juxtaposed with newly renovated homes. These villages are rather charming with beautiful stonework houses and out buildings trimmed with bright orange and yellow poppies.
We keep walking towards the snow sprinkled mountains that seemed so far away but are becoming distinct now. It is encouraging to see mountains on the horizon draw closer.
I walk a lot on my own today which means I have to find my own way. At one stage I go to take the road but a wood chopper directs me down past his wood pile. It looks very rough but I do see a Camino pillar so I push on. There are few signs here as I pass under a road or railway yet to be finished but I persevere trusting the direction.

It was the correct way but while the road making was happening there was a diversion which both Andy and Peter took. I catch them up quite quickly. I had been feeling weary and taken a rest at Entrepenas for a few minutes where I chatted with Hans the tall Dutchman. He is taking a rest day as he has an old injury that is bothering him. I mentioned the sudden glut of pilgrims and he said it was a party of French who were going from town to town by minibus and just walking with day packs some of the track.
I come across a paddock of beautiful horses and their foals.

Peter and I are starting to feel a bit jaded and when we get to town a couple of locals come out to direct us to the Albergue. It is on the edge of town and is attached to the sports stadium. There are only 6 beds but about 10 mats. I elect to take a mat as all the lower bunks are taken and my feet are a bit too tender to clamber up the ladder.
Simple pleasures. I am now sitting out under a massive oak tree feeling nature close around me.
