La Sagrada Familla

What an experience! I walked up from  my lodgings and even with a stop for breakfast (Jamon baguette and cafe con leche) I arrived with an hour or more to spare. I had booked online last night so was able to bypass the queue for tickets. Just showed the code and went in. But not before 12:00 so after walking the block I scoped a Starbucks which would do for shelter as it was about to pour. Space was at a premium as the heavens opened. I stretched my yoghurt and coffee until only a further 30 mins remained and took pity on a poor woman looking for a seat.
I took the self guided tour for 19,50€.  As soon as I walked in I was overwhelmed. The stained glass windows are breathtaking. The colour of jewels. Very modern in concept but they provide a myriad of colours on the columns.  The interior is a little like a forest and Gaudi fashioned the columns on trees.  It is fanciful but exquisite. I felt tears welling up and  needed to take a seat to compose myself. A building has never moved me so much. It was so light and there is a real sense of peace despite the shuffling, flashing crowds all around. It is awesome in its true meaning.
After going in once more I headed home.  The clouds were gathering ominously again and after a quick visit to another market I scuttled home just in time to escape the deluge.
I was taken by the number of different tomatoes on display. I stayed too long and was persuaded to buy a punnet!  They are delicious.
The rain has set in and I'm glad of my cosy bed.  There is a most strange sound coming from the toilet and hand basin. When I go to inspect, the water tank must be open to the rain because the toilet bowl is having waves! Not filling up thank goodness but definitely receiving big splashes of water.

  2. Thanks Julie. I'm glad you like it. Noticed a few spelling mistakes in my next post. I was falling asleep.
